ABOUT ME

David Wilson is an anthropologist who worked in government as a program administrator.  He is a Paterson native who grew up and went to school there during the 1950's and 1960's.  He still meets regularly with a few friends from the old neighborhood, some of whom he entered kindergarten with and exited together from high school.  While he has lived in several parts of the US and abroad, his first question on meeting a new person or situation always is:  "Is that how we did it in Paterson?"  He currently lives in a small Bergen County town, something he said he would never do.  But he still walks the streets of Paterson and stops in at the West Indian and Latin restaurants, bodegas, and stores that were once Jewish places. The people are different now, yet the aura from those immigrant Jews and their notions of how the world should be still remains.
